Craps Bets

In playing the dice game of craps there are quite a number of bets to be learned and to understand. This makes craps a bit difficult to learn but it also makes craps fun and exciting to play.

As I have said, there are many bets that can be made in the whole duration of playing craps. However, there are only a few bets that can be made during the come-out roll. A come-out roll is the first roll of the dice in the craps game. It is rolled every time a new round of craps is being started.

The two very basic bets in craps are the pass line craps bet and the don't pass bet. The pass line wager historically came first in craps' history than the don't pass bet. It was John H. Winn that introduced the don't pass bet. He was the Father of Modern Craps because the don't pass bet enabled players to bet for the casino. This is why don't pass bettors are also called wrong bettors whereas the pass line bettors are right bettors because it is believed that more craps players wager for the pass line than the don't pass bet. Remember that both the pass line and don't pass bets can be made only during the first roll or come-out roll.

The bet called pass line wagers that the shooter or the one throwing the craps dice will roll a 7 or 11. The pass line bet loses if craps are rolled. Craps are the numbers 2, 3 and 12. If any of the numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10 are rolled then a point is established. The shooter must roll the point before he rolls the 7 to win the pass line wager. Pass line wager pay even money.

Don't pass bets are the exact opposite of pass line bets. The wrong bettors are rooting for the craps numbers of 2 and 3 to roll to win the bet. If the 12 is rolled then it is a tie or a push and the money is returned. If a 7 or 11 is rolled by the craps shooter then the wrong bettors lose. If any of the other numbers are rolled then a point is made. However, this time the 7 must be rolled first before the point for the don't pass bet to win.

Other bets that can be made during the come-out roll and even anytime in the game are the big 6, big 8, field, one roll and hardways bets in craps. They are always considered to be working even after the come-out roll has been made.
